6th Hour Creative Writing Class

Week of May 7 - 11, 2012

M       *Students will finish the "Ideal City" essay portion of their project.
            Students have needed additional time to complete the "Ideal City" project.
            One/one meetings have taken place to answer questions and check progress.

T        *Students will individually present their "Ideal City" project.

W       *Finish "Ideal City" project presentations.
           *Students will generate "Last Straw" story endings before randomly drawing
             one to write the entire story, using the "drawn" ending.
           *If students complete their story early, they can illustrate the story for extra credit.

TH      *Students will individually read their stories to the class.

F         *Do Not Enter" writing project: Students will choose an existing road sign or
             design one of their own (to illustrate), and then write a life story that applies.

6th Hour Creative Writing Class

Week of April 30th - May 4th, 2012

M      Students will finish 5 Paragraph Essay
          (compare / contrast essay)

T       Ideal City Project:
          discuss components / rubric
          brainstorm theme
          brief sketch

W      After completing Ideal City sketch,
           and okaying it with Mrs. Canute,
           students will begin drawing on construction paper.

TH     Students will write the description of
           their Ideal City / per rubric requirements,
           using the 5 paragraph essay format.

F       Students will present their project in class, including
           reading the essay portion of the assignment.

6th Hour Creative Writing Class

Week of April 23 - 27, 2012

M       Continue viewing "Sign of the Beaver"
           Students will continue to take notes on the story.

T        Finish watching "Sign of the Beaver"
           Students will work in groups to list likenesses
           and differences of the two main characters in the film.

W      Students will use their notes to write a five paragraph
          essay comparing and contrasting Matt and Attean, the
          two main characters of the "Sign of the Beaver" DVD.

TH     Students will finish their essays, then peer edit each
          other's paper.

F        Students will  fill in a Venn Diagram before
           writing a compare/contrast paper on themselves and
           either Attean or Matt.
